Adhar Devi Temple (2 km)
This ancient temple dedicated to the snake goddess, Arbuda, is carved into a huge rock .. Arbuda is the patron of the town, which formed the mountain in order to save the sacred cow, Nandi from drowning in an abyss. The idol of marble painted black, mounted on a solid gold tiger, is claimed to be about 5,000 years old. The open and free access during daylight hours.
Guru Shikhar(15 km.)
The highest peak on Mount Abu (1722 meters above sea level) allows a bird’s view of the idyllic surroundings of Mt. Abu. A small Shaivite shrine and a temple of Dattatreya standing on the shikhar worth a visit.
Trevors Tank (5 Km.)
Named after the British engineer who built it, Trevors Tank is a delight for birdwatchers with densely wooded hills are a haven to pigeons, peacocks and partridges.

By road
Ahmedabad is 222-km Palanpur. Jodhpur is 235 km via Sirohi and Pali. Udaipur is 156-km Pidwara. (Journey on this route is advisable only during the day.) Jaipur is 509-km from Pali-Ajmer. It connects to all major cities in northern and western India.
By train
The nearest railway station is Abu Road (29 km) on the route Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Ajmer-Jaipur-Delhi. From Abu Road one can take a taxi, jeep or bus to Mount Abu.
By Air
The closest airport to Mount Abu is Udaipur Maharana Pratap Airport, Dabok (Udaipur) 207 km. You can hire a taxi to get to Mount Abu.

About Mount Abu
The only hill station in Rajasthan, Mount Abu huddles among the rocks of a granite table mountain 1220 m in the southwestern end of Aravalli hills. It is built around a lake and is surrounded by wooded hills. According to legend, the place takes its name from Arbuda, a serpent descending to the spot to rescue Shiva’s bull, Nandi. Besides having all the features of a pleasant hill resort.
Mount Abu is also known for the famous temples of Dilwara and many more archaeological remains. There are interesting walks and picnic spots, romantic royal retreats of the various families of ancient past Rajputana and some relics of the Raj period. The scenic landscapes include gigantic blocks of rocks of strange forms, a set of coniferous trees, flowering shrubs, lovely lakes and cool climate much in contrast to the arid environs of the state.
Main Attractions
Dilwara Temples
The complex consists of five marble Jain temples is one of the best in Rajasthan, worth challenging the queues and ferocious guards. These beautifully carved temples built between 11 and 13 centuries AD are sheer elegance in marble, dedicated to the Jain Tirthankaras. Vimal Vasahi The Temple is the oldest of them, devoted to the first Tirthankara. Built in 1031 AD (by Vimal Shah-a merchant and representative of then Gujarat ruler), is a superb example of temple architecture.
Gaumukh Temple
Dedicated to Rama, this small temple (the cow’s mouth) focuses on a spring gushing from the mouth of a marble cow. In the Hindu creation myth, the world is made up of a cow, licking salt, the source of the Ganges has the same name. This is said to be the site of the former ‘Agnikunda’ fire rituals. It is located 4 km south of Mount Abu. Open, free access, down 700 very steep steps.
Govt. Museum – Mount Abu
The museum was created in 1962 at the premises of Raj Bhawan to preserve the archaeological wealth of the region.
Mandakini Kund
The strength of watersupply Achalgarh and a sculpture of Parmar Daravarsh are located near the Achaleswar Mahadev temple.
Nakki Talav
The resort of Mount Abu, is virtually in the heart of the city. This sparkling blue artificial lake is said to have been gauged from the earth by the gods, using their fingernails (‘nakh’ means nail). Nearby is the 14th century Raghunath Temple.On the western edge of downtown, Nakki Lake Road circles the entire lake. rowboats can be rented from the dock Gandhi Park.
Summer Festival
The Summer Festival held every year in the month of Aashadh (June). The steep rocks, tranquil lakes, picturesque locations and the pleasant climate of Mount Abu make it an ideal place for the festival.
View Points
Various points around the edge of the plateau offer spectacular views of the plains. The best are Honeymoon Point (Point of anadromous) and Sunset Point, where hundreds of people gather to watch the sunset every evening in a carnival atmosphere of pony rides and souvenir sellers. Baylay’s Walk is a pleasant 5 km route Nakki Lake to Sunset Point. Honeymoon Point, 2.5 miles northwest of Ganesh Road, Sunset Point, 2 km southwest of Sunset Point Road. Open, free access.
