Jammu
Jammu is famous for its temples. In fact, it is known as the city of temples and the reputation of all its trends to overshadow its palaces, forts, forests and Ziarats powerful (shrines). If Bahu Mata is the presiding deity of Jammu, the Dargah of Peer Ali Shah Buddha is the sanctuary that protects Jammuites others.
Vaishno Devi
The chapel of the holy cave of Vaishno Devi is located in a mountain recess Trikuta precious part of the lower Himalayas. It is located 61 km north of Jammu at a height of 5,200 meters above sea level in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In the cave there are images of three deities namely. the Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati.
Bahu Fort & Temple
Located on a rock wall on the left bank of the river Tawi, this is perhaps the oldest fort and the building in the city of Jammu. Originally built by Raja Bahulochan more than 3,000 years ago, the current strength was recently improved and built by Dogra rulers.
Buddha Amarnath Temple
This is a unique Shiva Temple which is located on the side and not on the top and second, the white stone Shivling is not self-made.
Fairs In Jammu
If you visit the Jammu region during Shivratri, one will find a celebration on almost everywhere. Mansa foods and crafts Mela is a three-day celebration of local crafts and cuisine, where people from neighboring states also participate.

By Road
Buses and taxis are available at Jammu and Katra / Udhampur. By taxi it takes about 3 ½ hours to reach Patnitop and bus takes about 5 hours.

There are a number of lodges and tourist bungalows, all managed by J & KTDC, having facilities of Drawing room and fully equipped kitchen in all huts and LPG facilities.

Introduction
Relatively unknown, compared to tourist sites in the state Patnitop is no less beautiful or serene. If you are trying to get away from everything for a while, this place is hard to beat.
With all its beauty at a hill station, is a charming plateau at 2, 024m. The meadow is surrounded by dense forests and lush greenery of Pines. Topics lead to pockets where time stands still and calm prevails.
Trekking
Picturesquely located at high altitudes, there are many pleasant walks around this popular hill station. Patnitop is a good starting point for many short or long trips in the nearby mountains. An attractive day trip is to Shiva Garh, about 11-km from Patnitop at an altitude of nearly 3,500 meters.
Good dirt roads passing through forest lanes and fascinating scenery link Patnitop with Kud and Batote. There are three, gushing, cold freshwater springs in the area of ice, which is said to have medicinal properties. The complete tourist circuit covers Jammu-Katra, Vaishno Deviji, Healthy Kud, Patnitop Gourikund, Sudmahadev, Mantali, which runs until Lattie-Dhun.
Adventure Sports
Patnitop is an ideal place for walks and picnics. Healthy, 19-km was chosen by J & K Tourism for major development. Situated in a Gulmarg-like meadow it has around picnic spots. The six golf holes to be expanded to 9-holes.
Pony rides along little known trails, camping and walks can be indulged by those with a less adventurous spirit. The daring can opt for paragliding and ski base, introduced in recent years. Sudha Mahadev is another sacred spot situated close to Patnitop.

Sonamarg has a number of hotels of different types, which are open only during summer months. JKTDC has a Dak Bungalow and number of cabins, which are available for rent. Rates depend on the type of accommodation to be hired. Accommodation must be booked well in advance of Srinagar. By Road
Sankoo, Panikhar Parachik Kargil and are connected with regular bus services, in summer even twice a day. A bus ride from Kargil takes 2 hours to Sankoo, 3 hours and hours Panikhar Parkachik 4. Rangdum is served by the weekly bus service to Padum, which increases according to demand. Some trucks plying between Kargil and Padum also a lift in the cabin for the price of a bus seat. Cars and jeeps taxis can be hired from Kargil for visiting different places in the Suru Valley, including Rangdum and Penzila.

Sonamarg is in Srinagar District on the Srinagar Leh highway, 81-km from Srinagar. The nearest airport is in Badgam District, connecting the capital with major cities in India

Yushmarg

Standing in the Pir Panjal mountains, past the airport, at an altitude of 2,700 meters, the meadow of Yusmarg is said that the best flowers for spring in Kashmir. The beautiful valley at the foot of the valley Sangisafaid on the northern slope of the Pir Panjal range. Nearby is the picturesque Lake Yusmarg Nila Nag where there is a rest house of the forest. Yusmarg has tourist cabins and is a good starting point for walks in the surrounding hills. To reach the Nila Nag can walk 19-km Magama through roads on the way to Gulmarg. The road is still below Nila Nag Yusmarg and from there the road runs to Yus, where a track leads out Sangam and Sunset Peak, the valley of the Kol Khanjian. Sunset is the highest peak in the Pir Panjal range to 4746 meters. Other popular excursions include here those Dodha Sangisafaid and Patri. If you can take some time, then take the tour Yushmarg during the day. Buses on tour made Yushmarg run three times a week. 47-km southwest of Srinagar amidst pines and fir is the valley – Yushmarg (2,700 m) on the slopes of the Pir Panjal range. His is a beautiful meadow and a pleasant picnic area.
Sonamarg’s Importance is Two Fold:
It is the starting point for an important trip to spend several mountain lakes – Vishansar, Kishansar, Gadsden, SATs and Gangabal. A walk leads all the way to the cave of Amarnath. The other major reason Sonamarg lies in that the suspension is seen side of Kashmir from Srinagar to Leh drive.
Walks From Sonamarg
One of the most popular walking distance of Sonamarg and a major attraction during the summer months is the 4-km route to Thajiwas, a small valley at the foot of the Sonamarg glacier. One path leads to Shakhdar hill, overlooking the glacier from the northeast. It is dangerous to climb the steep slope leading to the glacier. Ponies can be hired for the trip to the glacier Thajiwas. Often in the early summer they meet a group of Gujar passing through Sonamarg on their way to the alpine meadows for the summer.

Srinagar

The capital of Jammu and Kashmir and the largest city in the state, Srinagar (1,730 m) is famous for its canals, houses and Mughal gardens. The city itself is quite different from most other large Indian cities, here are a lot more in Central Asia in the subcontinent.
Baltal
(98Km.)
This beautiful meadow at the foot of La Zoji happen and therefore it is the last place in Kashmir. The river from the foot of the Amarnath glacier meets the Indus near Baltal. It lies at an altitude of 2743 m, and during the Amarnath pilgrimage there are shops set up here. You can walk to the Amarnath cave, more usually approached from Pahalgam, in one day. Check on conditions before setting out, however. The weather can be treacherous and at other times melting snow and ice make the route very dangerous. There is now a jeep road much of the way to the cave. The turnoff to Baltal is 94-km along the road to Leh, and then is 3 km or so down.
Bisansar Lake & Krishnasar Lake
There is a lake in every corner of the Himalayas and there is one at Sonamarg also. The product Bisansar way to Sonamarg via Nichinai Lake Pass. Across the river in Paso Nichinai Bisansar Lake is at an altitude of 4 084m, with its enchanting natural beauty. Beside the lake is Lake Krishnasagar at an altitude of 3801 m, popular for fishing for trout.

Golden Meadow
At an altitude of 2,740 m, Sonamarg is the last important point in the Kashmir Valley before moving to the Zoji Ladakh. When passing the lush green landscape abruptly switches to the Kashmir dry arid landscape of Ladakh. Sonamarg is thus not only a good starting point for hiking, but also a starting point for trips to Ladakh
The name means ‘Meadow of Gold’ and although this could be due to the profusion of flowers that carpet the meadow in the spring is also possible that the name derives from Sonamarg’s strategic trading position in the days when it was a major route towards the center of Asia. The river meanders along Sindh here and is full of trout and mahseer.
Useful Information – Ladakh

Activities
The climbing season extends from mid – May to mid October, the ideal period is from June to September because during this time only Ladakh remains unaffected by the monsoon, which influences most of the Himalayas. Foreign climbing expeditions are required to obtain permission from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation to climb all the peaks in the list. A booking fee based on the height and popularity of the summit has been assigned, it is loaded and a Liasion Officer is assigned to every climbing team. The minimum period required for processing applications is six months. Each authorized issue with adequate rescue coverage in the event of accidents and disease.
Peak Season Reservations
During high tourist season ie early June to mid September, is advised to book hotel rooms in advance. In late September, as the tourist rush starts to decline, advance booking is necessary, the availability of accommodation becomes easy. However, tourists planning winter trips may have to book accommodation in advance to ensure heat supply agreement s during the period of intended stay.
Communication:
Kargil has worldwide direct dial telephone facility, besides post and telegraph offices. In addition J & K Tourism operates its own wireless network with the phone’s radio stations on the ground in Kargil, Leh Padum and are related to the control of stations in Srinagar, Delhi and Jammu. During the tourist season mobile wireless stations are also established in key locations in remote areas.
Hospitals
The district hospital in Kargil is fairly well equipped and with a team of specialists and general practitioners. There are also clinics in Drass, Mulbek, Trespone, Sankoo, Panikhar Padum and each headed by a qualified medical paraphernalia and equipped with basic health care.
Tourist Information Centres
The tourist office regularly updates its store of information about the region. Tourists undertaking mountaineering expedition on hard trekking along difficult routes are advised to inform the Kargil Tourism Office on their routes and programs to monitor their welfare.
A Word of Caution – Ladakh
Inner Line Restrictions
Entry of tourists beyond a mile north of the road Drass-la-Zoji Bodhkarby-Khalatse is restricted. However, Khalatse-Leh highway, the monasteries of Tia-Tingmosgang, Rhizong, Likir Phiyang and can be visited even though these fall north of the road. Likewise, tourists are allowed to visit Shey, Tikse, and thak Chemrey Thok-lying north-Leh road Upshi.
The Leh-Manali road is also open to a mile east of its general alignment. Although the northeastern and northern Ladakh are partially open to foreign tourists are not required to obtain permission from the Deputy Commissioner, Leh.
