How to reach in Pelling

Road
Shared jeeps travel regularly until mid or late afternoon between Pelling and Ghezing, twice a day to Gangtok, and once a day for Siliguri. There is no direct service to Yoksum of Pelling, but a daily bus leaves Ghezing and travels through Legship and Tashiding. A bus runs every day to Ghezing Khecheopalri Lake and passes through Pelling, and two out of Ghezing Pelling, and eventually back to Pelling.

Sanga Choling Monastery A 4 km trail rises from the playing fields just above Pelling to reach the small monastery of Sanga Choling, one of the oldest in Sikkim gompas. This gompa is another Lhatsun Chenpo creations, and is highly revered among Nyingmapa. Gutta by fire, which has been rebuilt and houses some of the original clay statues.
Trekking
For those with permission to visit the Lake annotations Khechepalri, Tashiding Yoksum and a low-altitude scenic drive along roads and trails, starting from Pelling. Public transport performance of both Yoksum Legship Tashiding and return to where you can go Ghezing, and eventually back to Pelling.

The relaxed, picturesque, but rapidly swelling hamlet of Pelling, situated 2085 meters above sea level, just two miles beyond Pemayangtse, looks north towards the glaciers and peaks of Kanchenjunga. Pelling itself consists of little more than a road junction, a platform for helicopters and numerous hotels, creating the so-called Bengal Boulevard, a strip of very unimaginative identikit concrete blocks. How To Get There
Rail : Low Haflong is having a train station, 3-km from the city, with exits to Lumding – a slow but scenic ride, Silchar and Dharmanagar.
Road: Private buses pull in Main Road, 100 meters above the market for film Hamringdi, leaving early in the morning and afternoon of Silchar, in addition to a solution overnight at Guwahati. The ASTC bus stand further away than 1 km, go tomorrow and noon to Silchar outputs, and a journal to Nagaon.

Jatinga
9-km south of Haflong on the road and covered with Silchar Blue Vandas Orchids, Jatinga is famous in local folklore as the place where birds commit suicide en masse. The brutal truth is that on certain nights of fog, no moon in autumn, local migratory birds can become disoriented while flying through the valley on the saddle of the hill and are attracted by the lights by the local population, which clobber them to death with bamboo sticks and eat.
There is a bird watching centre in Jatinga, where one may be able to stay if one can get permission from the district forestry office in Haflong. Buses to Silchar pass through, but it may be easier to make a day-trip from Haflong by auto-rickshaw.
Maibong
47-km from Haflong, Mahur along the river, lie the ruins of the once thriving capital of the United Dimasa Kachari. A stone house and temple Kachari kings can be seen in Maibong.
Umrangshu or Umrongso
Haflong 112-km of road, the biggest Hydel plant in the Northeast Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) has come up with dams on the river Kopili, a tributary of the Brahmaputra. About Umrangshu, there is a Garampani hot spring water, believed to have medicinal properties. Boating on the lake, hot spring – Garampani and exquisite scenery from the top of the hill is enough to captivate the attention of a tourist.

A Breathtaking Scenic Beauty
While Shillong Hill is out of the state of Assam, a new hill emerges, at 680 m high, superior Haflong. The main language spoken here is Dimashi. In Dimashi, Haflong means “Morro White Ants.”
Haflong pleasure is a land of blue and pear orchards, pineapple and orange. The nature of Haflong is a great attraction in itself. Add to the picturesque beauty of Haflong lake located in the heart of this city on the hill.
The Seat Of Sovereignty
The scenic hill resort of Haflong, 84-km north of Silchar, is the district council headquarters of North Cachar Hills, autonomous, where members of several ethnic groups including Dimas Hmars, Nagas and Mizoram, belonging to different religious denominations – Christian, Hindu and Buddhist – live together in apparent harmony.
Haflong stretch along Main Road, just Silchar. The market, the Main Road in the center of the city is at its most lively and colorful on Saturday, when expanding in a room further down Main Road, and overflows with fresh betel nut, banana flowers and Dju Vie ( rice beer) for space. For the best views, head to the ASTC bus stand.
